2 new devices from the Sprint and HTC connection

More family members for Sprint's Evo franchise! 2 new devices were announced at the CTIA 2011 from Sprint. As rumored, both have officially been confirmed.

Evo 3d is a pretty nice upgrade to its predecessor. Major upgrades includes:
  • 2.3 android
  • 1.2 dual core processor
  • 1080p video
  • 1730 mAH battery
  • qHD display
Sprint also unveiled the first WiMax 4g tablet device, the HTC Evo View 4g. Some noteworthy specs are:
  • 1.5 single core processor
  • 2.3 android, expecting 3.0 in future
  • front facing camera
  • mobile hotspot capability
  • 4000 mAH battery
  • Stylus included
Concerns about battery life continue to surface from detractors. The Evo 3d also doesn't come with a kickstand. Demos also neglect to demonstrate its graphic preprocessing power, which has been substandard based on similar manufacturers. Also, no hint of NFC capability.

Impressive addition to Sprint's lineup. Motorola Xoom and Atrix are also headed to Sprint, with 4g capabilities most likely. Looks like Sprint is doing a good job pushing data centric mobile devices to a demanding market. Prices have not been stated yet, availability should be this summer.

Like last year, the iPhone will have to deal with following it up. Verizon's 4g LTE network will have to work harder to catch up up to Sprint's Network. If anything, Sprint's keynotes are a foreshadowing to this year's telecom industry for smartphones.

In other news, CLWR and S shares have rebounded from yesterday's decline.
